Teacher
Work was overtaking my life. I sought out a yoga class as a way to move my body and calm my mind. That was more than 30 years ago. I happened upon Iyengar Yoga with Doerthe Braun after practicing different styles – Sivananada, Ashtanga, Anusarana – and have never looked back.
Why I Practice
In January, 2024 I traveled to Pune, India, to study for a month at the Ramamami Iyengar Memorial Institute, learning and practicing yoga alongside descendents of B.K.S. Iyengar and senior teachers from around the world. This experience had a profound impact on my practice and deepened my appreciation of the dedication that is required to become a highly-skilled Iyengar Yoga practitioner and teacher. I am so grateful to all of the teachers in India who generously supported my journey there.
Having experienced the transformational power and deep healing effects of Iyengar Yoga, I am excited and honored to share my practice with students at Sweetbay Yoga.
